Come around my way. Born in Brooklyn (Bed Stuy) and raised Uptown in Harlem / Washington Heights, AL SKRATCH came up at a time when urban decay, crime, hopelessness, artistic expression, and music diversity was blooming in the five boroughs of treacherous New York City. Graffitti found its way into the heart, landscape and travels of AL's everyday life. Navigating daily through the tunnels of the rapid, noisy, colorful underground kept his eyes sharp and ears keen to every scene. This environment set in motion his personal, artistic, and musical journey.
AL paid his dues and earned his respect as a DJ Uptown. Local MCs nicknamed him "AL SKRATCH" because of his ability to prolong the rhythm of the beat through the technique of scratching and his uncanny understanding & precision to "move the crowd".
Best known for his work as a member of the Billboard charting rap duo, "ILL AL SKRATCH". 'Where My Homiez ?" earned them a GLOBAL hip hop following, that is still loyal today. "I'll Take Her" featuring Brian Mcknight further expanded and broadened their fan base. ILL AL SKRATCH added several soundtracks to their repertoire namely Eddie (Where Ya At ?), New Jersey Drive (Don't Shut Down on a Playa), and Panther (The Points).
AL has worked with many artist in the industry and has a voice that is highly distinguished and a style recognizable in many of today's contemporary artist. His melodic structures and harmonious hooks have influenced generations. His love and continued thirst, not only for Graffiti, MCing, DJing, Breakdancing and Knowledge allows him to remain an active piece and valued ICON within Hip Hop. AL SKRATCH can be quoted as once saying, "We are all connected and related through communication of music, the UniversAL language and artistic expression. We all inspire each other"
